Research in machine Learning at the Microsoft Research-Inria Joint Centre focuses on the following applications: Mining large collections of video, Biomedical image analysis, Content recommendation for online social networks, Learning under privacy constraints.
The data deluge we are facing prompts the need for new statistical procedures, capable of structuring and classifying data accurately at a reasonable computational cost. We develop novel algorithms for approaching the optimal trade-off between accuracy and computational cost. We also investigate methods for answering “what if” questions in online environments such as search ad systems.
We also develop solutions for efficiently executing our Machine Learning calculations on cloud environments. We further develop solutions for visualization and interaction with Big Data.
